Like many families across the USA we have recently purchased a used boat and spent a lot of time researching the best way to clean her up; especially the outside decks. I have read about a lot of chemical cleaners to remove the dirt and grime but I don’t want any of that to wash out into the water or be on the dogs feet. The only other thing I read about was steam cleaning and it seemed to be the most environmentally friendly and it would clean and kill any mold or mildew that was active.
I got a few estimates to hire a company to do the job and we do not have that kind of money; it is hundreds of dollars. I was at a trade show with a friend and watched the demo of the Eurosteam® XVapor 1500 steam cleaner, it is the same idea as the expensive companies that steam clean boats and not expensive; I bought it.
I took it home and started using right away and it worked like nothing I had ever seen before. I used the floor brush with a cloth over it for the large areas and the detail nozzle and brushes for the smaller areas. I would move it back and forth and let the steam loosen the grime and mess and then I would wipe up the residue that had been removed. I will say that I was impressed with the light weight and easy portability of the XVapor steam cleaner and now know that I can travel between home and the boat with it. The high pressure steam lifted and removed almost everything in its path.
It was a long job that took me a few days here and there but the end result is that our new to us dirty used boat has become the new to us clean boat!
